Agreements with the Enemy

This morning as I was driving to work, I listened to Perry Noble as he shared Week 3 of the Cancelled sermon serious.

He made a state along the lines of this,

Be very careful about the agreements you make with the enemy.

The reason why some people in this room and watching online are in bondage is because you’ve made an agreement with an enemy.

We talked about this last week.  You got labeled … addict, misfit, unworthy… and you have agreed with the enemy that that is your name.

The problem isn’t that God doesn’t love you.  The problem isn’t that you can’t have victory.

The problem is that you have agreed with the enemy about something that is untrue about you.

Be careful about the agreements you make with the enemy.

~Perry Noble

Whoa!

Take a moment and let that one simmer for a minute.

Over the past two years, I have been given many labels.

Let me be very transparent with you.  Two labels that, unconsciously I have made an agreement with the enemy, are Kerri is unqualified and emotional.

Pastor P’s statement hit me very hard.

First of all, in no way, shape, or form do not ever want to make an agreement with the enemy.

More importantly, now the Holy Spirit has brought to my attention that I have allowed that agreement with the enemy to supersede what Jesus says about me…..

I have a problem and it MUST be addressed….. Immediately.

Let me say this, I will no longer consciously allow the thought of being unqualified play a role in the actions I take.  Instead, I will cling to the absolute that

if God called me to it…. then HE will qualify me for it.

And when I feel weak,

I will acknowledge that it is HIS strength which makes me strong

and intentionally focus on him.

Secondly, yes. I am emotional.  I am exactly how God has created me to be.  I am kind, caring, empathetic, compassionate, happy, experience moments of sadness, among other things.

I realized this past week, I lost sight of my joy when I started listening to the murmur and labels of others.

I will consciously strive to ensure my joy is found in who and how HE created me to be.

Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil.  He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking from someone to devour.
