What a Friend We Have In Jesus

"I still have many things to tell you, but you can't handle them now. But when the Friend comes, the Spirit of the Truth, he will take you by the hand and guide you into all the truth there is. He won't draw attention to himself, but will make sense of what is about to happen and, indeed out of all that I have done and said, He will honor me; he will take from me and deliver it to you. Everything the Father has is also mine. That is why I've said, "He takes from me and delivers to you."

John 16:12-15

About a month ago, I found this verse.

I remember thinking how it was such a neat way to describe the Holy Spirit.

• Spirit of Truth
• Take you by the hand
• Guide you into all the truth there is

Friday Eve....

No matter how you choose to reference it, today began like any other day.

I woke up early in anticipation of the busy schedule that was waiting to begin.

As I drove to work, I began praying about an upcoming meeting. God guide my responses, give me listening ears, sustain my body language, and let me represent you.

Well, friends... 

I am sure you are surprised when I tell you he tried again... that dumb devil.

I am so thankful for God's plan and how he has provided me with a leader that I need right now.

Her gentle words of reassurance, 

I am so proud of you... You have grown so much.

But as you can imagine, the devil does not stop that easily.. and he almost had me.

In a moment of weakness, I stepped into my office, opened Facebook with every intention of posting a passive aggressive post. Knowing those who had wronged me would see the post, I wanted to ensure knew that they had failed.

But when I opened Facebook, the first post on my timeline stopped me in my tracks.

You want to be a leader, you must learn to follow

- God

This made me immediately think of WWJD (What would Jesus do?)

You know you remember those bracelets... some of you might still own one.

Clearly not what I wanted to think about in my little moment of anger, so I kept scrolling.

After all, isn'that what you do when you don't want ot be reminded of the truth?

I give up! 

I tossed my phone on my desk and sat down.

And then I thanked God.

For

• Who takes you by the hand
• Guides you into all the truth there is

What many don't know is the first post... that was a memory from last year.

One year ago, I was sitting in Arby's parking lot after a day like today. I was struggling with who I was as a leader. Part of that was because I was listening to the wrong leader.

That day, I made the decision to focus on God as my leader. If I am correct, there is a post in this blog called "Ice Cream, Ice Cream..." which talks about this experience with God.

The second post was posted by a lady I am blessed to call friend.

Over the past year, God has brought me from a place where I had completely flatlined due to what 

• others said about me, 
• who they said I was, and 
• how they treated me.

Well... let me just remind everyone who is reading this.

Once I put my focus on my absolute…GOD, it was easy to discern between the truth and opinions of others. 

And each day, I have become stronger because I find my strength in him.
