Blue Heart Alert!

There is a test which uses colors to represent different types of personalities.

Basically, an individual rates a group of words within given line using the numbers 1-4.

Each number corresponds to how the group of words describes you with 4 being the most, 3- a lot, 2- somewhat, and 1-least.

Seems harmless, right?

Once you receive the results you can learn more about your primary color or personality.  The information also includes how you see yourself verses how other perceive you.   In some cases, individuals may have close scores.

Again, seems harmless, right?

This tool was designed to help individuals learn more about themselves and about others so they can interact more effectively with one another.

Again, harmless, right?

Let me tell you, I have taken this test multiple times.  I have taken it in different settings, moods, and at different times in the year.  No matter how many times I take the test, my primary score is always…. blue!  In educational terms, there might be a standard degree of deviation in the score, but regardless… I am blue all the way…. a flaming, blue heart.

There have been many times I have felt as though this blue heart of mine has been seen as a weakness by others.  I will be honest, as a result of unsolicited opinions and unkind comments, I have thought of this blue heart as one of my many imperfections and often prayed that God would take it away.

However, over the last couple of months something has changed in me.

Hopefully, this change is evident not only in my recent posts, but also in my daily interactions with others.

The enemy… well he is a pesky little devil… with the intent to seek and destroy (John 10:10)

And I do not want to give him any power, but it seems like he just knows where, how, and who to use to hit you with his next attack.  AND… One of the many characteristics of this flaming, blue heart is the desire to…

well let’s just put the results of the test out there:

Empathetic, compassionate, and cooperative.  “Blues” tend to be very social people.  If you’re a Blue, you value relationships and harmony.  Genuine kindness, sincerity, and compassion are important to you.  You enjoy opportunities to work with others and collaborate and any opportunity to develop a connection” (True Color Intl, 2021).

I enjoy connecting with others.

And let me tell you that it is very hard to connect with people when you feel like they are constantly using one of your character traits against you!

There I said it!

Yesterday as I waited for Chick Fil A to cook my Chick Fil A sandwich at 6 something in the morning, God led to me the verse of scripture.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

For the struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done, everything, to stand.  Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist....

Ephesians 6:10-14

And as I sat there in the parking lot, God showed me the truth about this battle.

It has never been about my blue heart.

The devil has been using the voice of a person who I love, trust, and call ‘friend’ to try to stop me from connecting with people.

Stick with me here….

Even though the enemy already knows his future….

…. Spoiler alert…. he doesn’t win.

and Guess What?!?

He doesn’t want others to win either.

So, if he can prevent people from connecting then he directly affects the commission we have been called to do.

Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge:  God authorized and commanded me to commission you:  Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you.  I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of age”

Matthew 18:20- The message.

Let’s look at that word commission at little closer.

My little google search brought me to merriam-webster.com.

Commission~ authority to act for, in behalf of, or in place of another.

God authorized and commanded me (Jesus) to give you authority to act for, in behalf of, or in the place of (Jesus).

You see the voice was right to a degree…. I am not a good leader because of my blue heart.

I am a good leader because my God called me.  God does not always call the qualified… he qualifies the called.

He who began a good work in me with be faithful…

And though the devil tried to make me see my blue heart as a weakness, I know that I am made in HIS image, I am fearfully and wonderfully made, perfectly imperfect, and my strength does not come from my own actions, but from him.

and when I turn and face the truth… doubt will be eliminated… just as a shadow goes behind you when you face the light…

and I can cling to this promise.

“There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appear.

Philippians 3:8 The Message

Flourishing finish…

allow something to grow, develop in a healthy way… and attract the attention of others...

a bold or extravagant gesture or action made especially to attract the attention of others.

(Dictionary.com)

…..CONNECT…

A flaming, blue heart made to attract the attention of others so that I can connect them to the love of God.
